Nondiscrimination and Diversity

Unjust discrimination is a violation of human dignity and the rights conferred by God. With full commitment to preventing unjust discrimination in Catholic schools and colleges, educators cannot accept nondiscrimination laws and policies that would force schools and colleges to violate their foundational beliefs. A faithful Catholic school or college should forthrightly declare its right to exemption from any law forbidding discrimination based on religion, since religious considerations are essential to Catholic education, and it should avoid vague terminology that can be interpreted as support for ideologies that are incompatible with Catholic teaching.
