Parents are the primary educators of their children and have the obligation to ensure that young people are formed properly in faithful Catholic education. All children deserve to be formed to fully embrace their human gifts of reason and freedom on the path to sainthood. Today, homeschooling is an excellent option for many Catholics, while others choose hybrid options that combine homeschooling with elements of traditional schools. Parents have a growing array of faithful resources available to help them with curricula, texts, and learning activities.

The Cardinal Newman Society embraces all methods of education that form young people in the Catholic faith and serve the needs of the family. The growing impact of Catholic homeschooling in the Church is the fruit of the work of the Holy Spirit, and we encourage bishops, superintendents, and pastors to always include homeschooling in the Church’s plans for educating the faithful.
