Teacher Formation and Witness

The Church has consistently recognized that parents, teachers, and professors have the primary role in Catholic education and must serve as witnesses to the faith, in both word and deed. A Catholic educator helps fulfill the mission of the Church by preparing students to live virtuous lives in service to society and God. The Catholic teacher or professor should be “very carefully prepared so that both in secular and religious knowledge they are equipped with suitable qualifications and also with a pedagogical skill that is in keeping with the findings of the contemporary world” (Gravissimum Educationis, 8).
